What We Do

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.

The Montgomery Central Derwood Lions serve the Derwood, Maryland community. Lions participate in a variety of projects important to the local community. These projects range from assisting in eye and hearing screening to providing academic scholarships to local students. Check out the Derwood Lions' service page to get a list of our current activities and charity support.

Current Notices

"As we consider the role that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who at this very hour patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains.  They have something to tell us, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are the guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service -- a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves."

-- President Barack Obama, January 20, 2009

It doesn’t matter on which side of the aisle you stand, the President’s call for service rings true for every Lion. We know that there are community members that need help with their vision and hearing, require medical equipment, or simply have trouble putting food on the table each day. As Lions we recognize the value of serving the community through medical, social, and educational activities. If you have an interest in volunteering let us talk to you about what the Derwood Lions have been doing for the community since 1968.
